Defensive Pistol Classes
This Defensive Pistol Shooting fundamentals course is essential for shooters to develop the skills necessary to efficiently utilize pistols in self-defense.
Training will cover topics such as:
Efficient holster, draw, and firing mechanics, Ready vs Challenge position, Defensive Marksmanship Drills – Balance of Speed & Precision, High volume string of fire mechanics, Efficient reloading, One handed shooting fundamentals, Malfunction drills, Intro to dynamic shooting fundamentals.
This is not a learn to aim course. Students should already have a basic understanding of aiming and firearms safety prior to attending. If you wish to attend a basics of pistol shooting course click here.
This course is concealed carry focused but may be attended open carry. All stages will be fired from holsters. Call ahead if you are not sure what holster is acceptable.
Defensive Pistol Shooting Fundamentals 1 Days | 8 Hours
Students will perform light physical activities such as walking, sitting and kneeling. For students with medical considerations, the curriculum will be accommodated. Students will be expected to have a baseline understanding of their pistol, how it operates and how to aim. Prior to attending course. If a student does not have the skills required to attend their course enrollment fee can be applied to a basics of shooting course.
The target audience for this course is new concealed carriers, or students who own a pistol for self defense.
This course is designed to take shooters with a reasonable degree of proficiency with their pistol and introduce them to concepts they need to understand as it relates to defensive shootings.
Students should have a clear understanding of the universal safety rules, understand basic pistol marksmanship, or have taken a basics of shooting course.
Required:
Cover Garment Eye and Ear Protection
350 Rounds CCW holster
At least 1 spare magazine
Flashlight (optional)
Students may attend training with an outside the waistband, duty style holsters. This course is geared towards CCW holders.
This course satisfies the training requirements to receive a Utah CCW Non-resident Permit. You do not need to have a California permit to apply. Get more bang for your buck by adding the Utah CCW to your list of licenses.

This course satisfies the training requirements to receive a Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) permit in Los Angeles County, California. This course is approved for the sheriff’s department, and the Police Departments within LA County such as LAPD, Glendale, etc.
